Financial Ombudsman Service

Provides information about the scope of the Ombudsman scheme, how to complain and the type of redress available. The complaint form can be completed on screen. Also provides useful case studies via its "Ombudsman News" bulletins. The annual report can be downloaded.
Financial Services Compensation Scheme

The Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) is the UK's statutory fund of last resort for customers of authorised financial services firms. The FSCS can pay compensation if a firm is unable, or likely to be unable, to pay claims against it.
The Banking Code Standards Board

Explains the role of the BCSB and how it monitors compliance of the banking code. The code is available to download. The site includes a list of those who have signed up to the code and also those organisations who have not.

Very informative site with a large emphasis on credit and debt issues. Various reports of the OFT on consumer credit and unfair contract terms can be downloaded. Includes a consumer information section dealing with money and debt.
The Financial Services Authority

Contains a huge amount of material although is not very well indexed and information can be hard to find. Has a useful consumer information site. The FSA consultations are also available and can be downloaded. The site contains a firm search tool which advises whether a company or firm is FSA authorised and under what categories.
