WEST MIDLANDS FINANCIAL CAPABILITY FORUM

Next meeting
21 January 2010 at BMI Brimingham

January 2010 Agenda

Until 31 December 2009 this forum is facilitated by GLOMAS and funded by the Bank of America Foundation as part of the Citizens Advice Financial Skills for Life Programme. From 1 January 2010 it will be facilitated by David Gooding at BRAN CAB.

The West Midlands Forum is one of fourteen fora covering England and Wales. The forum shares common aims and objectives with the other financial capability fora, but its form and content are decided by forum members.

The forum meets four times a year. It is open to representatives of all agencies in the West Midlands and surrounding areas who are involved in financial capability work, or who would like to find out more about what it involves and how to develop this work.

Forum meetings are held in Birmingham and run from 10.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. There is no charge for attending and both refreshments and lunch are provided. If you would like to attend a meeting, please let us know so that we can make sure that any access or dietary requirements you may have are met and catered for. It will also help ensure that we have ordered adequate refreshments and lunch for everyone.

The forum provides an opportunity to: -

  • Meet and share experiences and resources such as lessons learnt about effective delivery models and training materials
  • Forum new partnerships - which could include delivery partnerships that could be used to make collaborative external funding bids
  • Make effective linkages to areas of policy and local delivery in the regions such as the Treasury's Financial Inclusion Fund, local authority Community Strategies or the work of Local Strategic Partnerships, etc.

Each meeting includes at least two guest speakers and/or training workshops.
